"Even in its current, early state, available only to a few thousand testers, Gmail appears destined to become one of the most useful Internet services since Google itself. ... Gmail is infinitely cleaner, faster, more useful, more efficient, less commercial and less limiting than other Web-based e-mail services. Once Gmail goes live, Hotmail and Yahoo won't know what hit them." |

"If you've had your fill of Web-based e-mail burdened with skimpy storage and cluttered interfaces, say hello to Google's free Gmail. Packed with innovative features such as message threading and fast searching, Gmail provides a full 1 gigabyte of server space and does away with both banner and pop-up ads, relying instead on sponsored links similar to those on Google's search engine page. … If you would like a free and uncluttered Web mail service with tons of storage, check out Gmail the moment it launches. The privacy issue doesn't bother me: Unlike sleazeball spyware that grabs data without my knowledge, Gmail asked for my permission." |

"Gmail is quite possibly the best e-mail account that I have ever had. Not only does Gmail have a GB of space, but it is pleasing to the eye and very easy to use and feel comfortable with. It only took me about 2 minutes before I felt right at home with Gmail and made it my primary e-mail account.
Wherever I go I am praising the functionality of Gmail, and I still cannot get over the ability to search through my e-mail the same way that I perform a search on Google.
Gmail is great, thanks!"

Why I’m Switching to Gmail – May 12, 2004

- "I want all my personal data accessible anywhere anytime.
- Privacy concerns are overblown... I'm more concerned with
services that model me and my relationships without my permission or control.
- It's the best webmail app there is. Simple, usable and powerful."

Setting up the [Gmail] account was painless and took less than a minute. So far the system is quick and responsive. The ads don't bother me any more than Google's other ads do,
which is to say they are totally unobtrusive and far less annoying than ads from other services. The keyboard shortcuts are nice and I can definitely see using this as a primary personal account … [Gmail] is something special and quite different from the status quo of what's out there (sort of like Google itself was to other search engines).
